Exhibition: "Toyen - I Can See Because It is Night"

Marie Čermínová, better known under the pseudonym Toyen, was one of the most engaged artists of the early 20th century. She managed to earn considerable recognition in the primarily male-dominated art world of the day. In this context, taking a glimpse into Toyen’s attitude to femininity provides unique insights, and it became the key theme of "Toyen – I Can See Because It Is Night". The Pudil Family Foundation provided a financial contribution for the realization of this exhibition.

One of the Foundation’s aims is to present Czech art in an international context. The exhibition "Toyen – I Can See Because It Is Night" includes several works from private collections from Paris and alludes to the intellectual influence that the Paris surrealist group had on the artist.

The exhibition Toyen – I Can See Because It Is Night is held in the premises of the Kampa Museum in Prague,
where it can be viewed until 3 January 2016.

The Pudil Family Foundation is an open non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the understanding and appreciation of Czech and international modern and contemporary art through the realization of innovative exhibitions, research and educational projects.
