The Pudil Family Foundation supported the exhibition “Emperor Charles IV 1316–2016"
King of the Czech lands, Roman Emperor and a truly cosmopolitan man, Charles IV connects countries and cultures again thanks to the jubilee exhibition “Emperor Charles IV 1316–2016”. Dedicated to the 700th anniversary of Charles’s birthday, the exhibition results from the research and cooperation of the National Gallery in Prague with leading local and international historical and cultural institutions. The Pudil Family Foundation supported the National Gallery in the role of main partner.
Scheduled to open for visitors on May 15, the exhibition aims to shed light on the true personality of Charles IV as an experienced politician and strategist, portrayed against the backdrop of every-day life outside the castle, and reflecting the political and cultural events of those days. Visitors can appreciate valuable artefacts such as the crown that Charles IV wore at his imperial coronation in Aachen. The exhibition includes additional 170 similarly unique artefacts coming from leading European and American institutions. The general quality of the exhibited objects is also assured by, amongst others, the universities from Düsseldorf and Leipzig, the Center of Bavarian history in Augsburg and the Brandenburg Academy of Sciences.
The exhibition Emperor Charles IV 1316–2016 is open between 15 May 2016 and 25 September 2016 in the Waldstein Riding School and will afterwards move to the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg between 20 October 2016 and 5 March 2017.
